We all navigate the world in different ways, but something we all deserve is to be able to visit somewhere with confidence. That is why Euan MacDonald and his sister Kiki set up the charity Euan’s Guide in 2013.

EuansGuide.com is the disabled access review website designed to remove the fear of the unknown and make it easier for disabled people to find and share great places to go. It holds thousands of reviews for all kinds of places across the UK and beyond. Reviews are left by disabled people, their families, friends and carers rating places from 0 to 5 stars.

Reviews help remove the guesswork and hours of searching which can often go along with trying to find new places to visit. People comment on important elements of the visit within their review, like staff, toilets and travelling to the venue. Reviewers are also encouraged to share images or videos from their visit to give potential visitors a clearer idea of what to expect.

Since the pandemic, the review form has been adapted so that people can mark if they felt ‘Covid Confident’ during their visit, to signal whether they were happy with the safety measures in place. Venues also use the website to share their disabled access and covid precautions, making it even easier for you to find all the information you need in one place.

As places reopen Euan’s Guide invites you to get involved and share your experiences by leaving reviews for the places you visit. Your opinion matters, there is nobody more qualified to provide good, reliable information about accessibility than disabled people and those closest to them.

Euan’s Guide believes in the power of working together to make the world more accessible. This is echoed in all the work they do, including their lifesaving Red Cord Cards.

Red Cord Cards are designed to hang on red emergency cords, part of the emergency alarm system found in accessible toilets. Far too often cords are left in an unsafe or unusable state. Simply attaching a Red Cord Card to a red emergency cord helps make everyone aware of why the cord is there and how it should be left. With the help of people across the UK, Euan’s Guide has already distributed over 60,000 Red Cord Cards helping prevent cords from being cut too short, tied up or tucked out of the way. But this is just the beginning! Red Cord Cards have the power to save lives, which is why Euan’s Guide hope that one day every red emergency cord in the UK will have a Red Cord Cards attached to it.
